Catch the Wall's workshop will be presented June 21 and 22 at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans.
On Friday, June 22 it will be broadcast live on #NEWPLAY TV at newplaytv.info at 5:30pm PDT (San Francisco) / 7:30 CST (New Orleans) / 8:30 EDT (New York) / 00:30 GMT (Sat, June 23) / 9:30am KST (Seoul - Sat, June 23) / 10:30am EST (Sydney - Sat, June 23).
Synopsis: When champion bounce music MC, Benefit, dies unexpectedly, 6th graders Cleo and Justice set out to make a dance video so their mentor's memory can live on. But when Benefit's ghost begins possessing their teachers, the girls must push back against their school's expectations and the dangers of their neighborhood, and find a story they can claim as their own.
This exciting workshop presentation will examine how dance and video interact in the play. It will also serve as a sounding board for the script itself as we collect audience feedback both in the room and online.
Catch the Wall will premiere in full in February 2013 in New Orleans. The play is being built to tour, with the intent of sharing this unique piece of New Orleans with venues across the nation.
