The Ingram New Works Fellowship, through the direct support of Tennessee Rep co-founder Martha R. Ingram, was created as the centerpiece of the New Works program, which provides an opportunity for theater artists to develop new theater works while in residency with Tennessee Rep. Currently in its fifth year, the program has evolved to include a New Works Lab for four regional playwrights who are being mentored by Steven Dietz, author of Yankee Tavern and who currently serves as the 2012 Ingram New Works Fellow. The Lab offers these playwrights the opportunity to not only receive feedback but also hear their works read by professional actors during the writing process, and a public reading at the New Works Festival.

Past fellows include David Alford (Clara’s Hands), Victoria Stewart (Rich Girl), Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner David Auburn (The Columnist), and Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize- winner John Patrick Shanley (Storefront Church).

The four readings will be livestreamed on #NEWPLAY TV at newplaytv.info. To participate in online conversation, put the tag "#newplay" in your Tweets. Click here for the playwrights' bios and the descriptions of the plays that will be read.
