The Segal Center Italian and American Playwrights Project hosted an evening discovering the work of one of the most significant contemporary Italian playwrights, screenwriters, and directors: the late Mattia Torre.  The program included a reading of excerpts from Torre's plays, translated by Anthony Sugaar and directed by Kristin Leahey, followed by a panel with Italian theatre critic Graziano Graziani, translator Anthony Sugaar, Valeria Orani, and others, moderated by Frank Hentschker.

Ashley Chen—choreographer, performer, and founder of Kashyl—brought his piece Distances to La MaMa as part of Villa Albertine’s 2023 Dance Season.

Watch Me Work is a communal work session for anyone eager to nurture and sustain their creative process. Facilitated by Public Theater Playwright-in-Residence Suzan-Lori Parks and the New Work Development department, Watch Me Work takes place via Zoom sessions and HowlRound livestreams that you can join at home, at school, or in a coffee shop from anywhere in the world!

Independent Theatre Hungary, Eötvös Loránd University, and Színház Magazine held a roundtable discussion with the Asian American Performers Action Coalition (AAPAC) who shared their experiences related to ethnic minority representation in the American theatre scene and presented the findings of their Visibility Reports: Racial Representation on New York City Stages. 

LEIMAY’s Archive Coordinator Brandon Perdomo and Ximena Garnica spoke about the LEIMAY archive and the history of the company. Tanya Calamoneri joined via zoom to talk about her book Butoh America: Butoh Dance in the United States and Mexico from 1970 to the early 2000s.

Calling Up Justice said yes to the invitation of global engagement from Ashtar Theater Palestine in response to the current crisis. This event is an accessible and disability justice informed digital production of The Gaza Monologues. 

This event was Theatre of the Oppressed NYC's response to ASHTAR Theatre's urgent request to publicly read or perform The Gaza Monologues—testimonies written by ASHTAR youth in 2010, highlighting the fears, hopes, and resilience of Gazans—on The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. 

Golden Thread Productions and Aviva Arts collaborated in their response to the urgent call put out by ASHTAR Theatre to theatremakers around the world to publicly read or perform The Gaza Monologues on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People—a significant day for those who value justice, equality, and freedom for the Palestinian people.
