Carmelita Becnel is a professional stage manager and proud member of Actors' Equity Association since 1995. With a Master's degree in Stage Management from the University of California at San Diego, she has had the great fortune to work with legendary theatre artists such as Horton Foote, Edward Albee, Athol Fugard, Anna Deavere Smith, and August Wilson. Previously the resident Stage Manager at Hartford Stage, Carmelita has stage managed for the Alley Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Mark Taper Forum, Two River Theater, Baltimore Center Stage, and Swine Palace. Currently, she is the Production Stage Manager for the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University and is grateful to work with the amazing, boundless, fearless talents of the students, faculty, and guest artists (such as Fiona Shaw, Laurie Anderson, Bill T. Jones, Will Power, The Civilians, John Doyle, John Rando, Elevator Repair Service). Also, proud mom of four-year-old twins Freddy and Lilly, and wife of fellow theatremaker Jamie!
